Then you need to sign up to the world's first virtual farmers' market. Using the latest in 3D games technology Marcus Carter, founder of the market and Managing Director of Carter Food House Ltd., has created an area in Second Life, the world's biggest virtual interactive environment, that allows local producers to advertise their wares in a realistic 3D market. Here, customers' 'avatars' (a computerised representation of yourself) can browse virtual stalls, interact with suppliers using text and images, and buy real products – including a delicious. subscription – that are then delivered to your door.
Marcus explains: “Seeing the face behind the food is more important today than it has ever been. To be able to connect remotely by using the internet, with the people who make what we eat, enables consumers to get a sense of trust before buying.”
