Scientists who studied 120 people with back pain have found that comfrey – a native herb with the ability to heal wounds, sprains and bruises – was effective in relieving discomfort...
The back-pain sufferers were split into two groups – one given comfrey ointment, the other a placebo. The placebo group claimed a 39% reduction in pain, while the comfrey group reported a huge 95% drop. Comfrey can be made into a poultice or drunk as a tea, but should be avoided by pregnant women.
