Ella’s Bakehouse

Using primarily British ingredients, Ella’s Bakehouse is the brainchild of former model Lorraine Pascale, baker of cakes so good that Guy Ritchie is a customer and Marco Pierre White was impressed enough to offer her encouragement. The menu is not, as yet, online, but the goodies available in-store include lemon raspberry, ginger, peanut butter, vanilla and red velvet. Also available is a ‘couture’ range of cupcakes with stiletto and red lips as toppings as well as a completely edible handbag. Ella alos makes other desserts, like white chocolate cheesecake and brownies.

The Hummingbird Bakery offers a personalised cake-ordering service and bake in the old-fashioned way, meaning that every cake is baked from scratch. For this reason, they request that all orders are made a minimum of 48 hours in advance. At weekends or holiday periods more notice may be required.
They have a huge variety of cakes and pies in myriad flavours. The Buttercup Cake Shop creates little masterpieces, and has received rave reviews as a result. Flavours including vanilla purist, banana split, mocha and coconut are available everyday, while other special flavours are only available on selected days, such as sticky toffee, lemon cream cheese and vanilla with strawberry curls.
Buttercup also offer a personalised service that caters for corporate events with company logos iced onto each cupcake, as well as wedding, anniversary, birthday and new born baby celebration designs.
Delivery is £12 to Central London postcodes between Monday and Friday. Customers outside of this area are still able to place orders; Buttercup recommends that these customers send their own courier.
Crumbs and Doilies
There are two fine food markets where you can buy Crumbs and Doilies cupcakes – at a regular Saturday pitch at Partridges on Duke of York Square (Kings Road) and at Covent Garden Market every Thursday. You can order them online as well.
Crumbs and Dollies' cupcakes are baked in five regular sponge flavours: vanilla, lemon, chocolate, carrot cake and coffee and a different flavour is premiered each month. Previous treats include cherry & almond, mochaccino, earl grey, cardamom & white chocolate and many others. Each little cake is individually iced by hand and customers can request their own designs or themes, particularly if the cakes are required for weddings, parties, functions, office parties or other events. Also available are cake stands, perfect as a centrepiece.

Taking tips from the fashion world and New York bakeries, the Couture Cupcake Co. has collections of cupcakes, baked to order. Each collection has its own catchy name and three different flavours. For example, the Coffee Break collection contains four cappuccino, four vanilla latte and four mocha cupcakes at a cost of £20. Also available are christening cupcakes that can be customised to include baby names and a colour theme. All cupcakes are decorated in bright buttercream icing topped with extras such as glitter, pearls and flowers.
It's possible to order cupcakes but there's no delivery service, so cupcakes must be collected from the premises in Leatherhead. The minimum order is one batch of 12.

Cupcake-a-licious were asked to design the wedding cupcake tower for Jade Goody’s marriage to Jack Tweed. In their cute festive collection, the cupcakes are made to look like miniature Christmas trees and tiny Christmas cakes. Other collections include Pretty in Pink, a girly batch made to be Valentines Day gifts.
All collections are generously decorated with flavoured buttercream to create attractive little treats. Cupcakes are £2 each with a minimum order of 6 cupcakes from the same collection.There is also a mini collection of 42 cupcakes per box at a £20 cost.
Cupcake-a-licious are based in Ewell, Surrey and delivery is charged per mile. Although longer distances are not always possible, quotes will be offered.

Reasonably priced at just £1.50 each, the cupcakes from the Sweet Tooth Cupcakery are very special; with delicious flavours like meringue and Oreo. Some flavours have a celebrity identity, such as the Kylie Minogue, a raspberry and vanilla treat with glitter dusting and the Chaka Khan, a creation of coconut sponge with chocolate cream topping. Other flavours include the Crazy Wendy, a coconut and lime flavoured cupcake ,and the Mint Royale, a chocolate and mint flavour.

Mini cupcakes are also available with a minimum order of 12 (£12.50).
The team at Scrumdiddlyumptious create cupcakes that are carefully designed and beautifully presented, using football designs and creating flowers out of icing. They have previously made cakes to celebrate Easter using pastel colours and little iced animals. Currently they don’t have a shop, but a home bakery. Delivery costs £5 within the Glasgow area and delivery to other areas is available on application.

Also available is a runny sauce centre to create a nice twist on a plain sponge cake.
