How to make a Dry Manhattan

To see off the colder weather, mix up a warming, cheering cocktail.

How to make a Dry Manhattan

Drink Manhattans in the late autumn – the season is in keeping with the smoky, spicy flavours and aroma of American whiskey. This is a drier version of the classic recipe, so perhaps a little more chic, despite (or because of) the retro cherry decoration!

40ml American rye whiskey
20ml dry white vermouth
Several dashes Angostura bitters
Maraschino cherry (optional)

1. Stir the whiskey and dry vermouth together over ice cubes in a jug, and dash in the bitters to taste. Strain into a traditional, pyramid-shaped martini glass. Decorate with the maraschino cherry, if you like.
