"I maintain that ingredients have feelings, so I couldn’t possibly discriminate against those that some people consider unsightly. Peel a knobbly carrot and it’s still  a carrot. Are we so busy that an extra 30 seconds spent on peeling will train-crash our day? Some produce, such as the pink fir apple or Jerusalem artichoke, are always knobbly. Shops have a lot to answer for in the bland convenience offering of the big, the shiny and the uniform. So, shop like a European, eat knobbly veg and get in touch with the bumps. I know I’m not perfect... " Valentine Warner.
