Organic horticulture scholarships up for grabs

Seeds of Change is continuing its partnership with leading organic growing charity Garden Organic, by funding three Seeds of Change apprentices to take a newly created work-based diploma in Organic Horticulture Production alongside full time employment at the home of Garden Organic in Ryton, Warwickshire.

Following the selection process, three successful apprentices will be announced and will become some of the first people in the country to sit this government-recognised course and learn all aspects of organic horticulture, from planning through to harvesting, and tending productive and ornamental plantings.

Bob Sherman of Garden Organic comments: “We’re delighted to be involved in the ‘Great Flavours, Well Grown’ campaign and continuing our relationship with Seeds of Change. The new diploma is essential for giving people the correct skills to drive this vital industry forward and we hope that the Seeds of Change Apprentices will share our passion for great tasting food and the philosophy behind it.”

Supporting the search is organic chef Arthur Potts Dawson who will also be on hand to guide the apprentices throughout the year on how to appreciate the great flavours of the organic produce they will grow, including giving a flavour masterclass on creating some delicious recipes.

Potential candidates can apply to become a Seeds of Change apprentice by completing an online application form available on www.seedsofchange.co.uk before 26 March.
