  • It’s packed with nutrients, such as vitamin C, beta-carotene, folate  and potassium. It also contains vital B vitamins and is a source of fibre.
  • It contains indoles, sulforaphanes and selenium, substances that may protect against cancer, particularly prostate, colon, breast and bladder cancers.
  • Broccoli may help protect against cataracts and macular degeneration. It contains lutein and zeaxanthin – carotenoids concentrated in the retina of the eye. Research has found that getting plenty of these carotenoids can reduce the risk of these specific eye problems.
  • It’s also good for your heart. Research has shown broccoli can help to lower cholesterol.
