The National Trust is a charity that cares for special places – from coast to countryside to buildings. A commitment to sustainably produced local, seasonal food makes sense for the Trust, which is why it's supporting our Knobbly veg campaign.
The National Trust has 3.8 million members, hosts millions of visits to its properties every year and owns over 200,000 hectares of farmland. It is also one of the countries largest catering businesses with its 150 restaurants and tea-rooms serving over 8 million people every year.

“We see food as a way to reconnect people to the land from which it comes,” says Beccy Speight, the Trust’s food champion. “The Trust sources lots of delicious knobbly veg from our own kitchen gardens for our cafés, and we’ve been encouraging everyone to have a go at growing their own knobblers through our Food Glorious Food campaign and through establishing allotments on some of our land.
“We’re linking with delicious. to run an Ugly Veg competition next year, so start planning your entries and watch out for more details next spring. Eating and buying knobbly veg is a great way of reducing food waste and building a more sustainable food world.”
