Christmas isn't Christmas without a hamper, so we've picked the best of the crop, including bespoke boxes you make up yourself.

Christmas hampers

Bettys of Harrogate
The Classic Christmas Gift Box is packed with goodies for those with a sweet tooth: there’s shortbread, Yorkshire gingerbread, fruit cakes and cocoa-dusted almonds, as well as coffee, tea and more. (£100; Bettys).

Sourced Market
Put together your own selection for gifts and hampers, choosing from quality products such as Kinvara smoked salmon, Ginger Pig English ham and Burnt Sugar fudge (from £8 to £150; Sourced Market).

Paxton & Whitfield
Reassuringly luxurious, this Gourmet with Wine hamper contains a Stilton jar, chicken liver pâté, fruit cake, port, Champagne, and a great deal more (£250; Paxton & Whitfield).

Real Food Direct
This online store offers a number of hampers to choose from including a Diabetic's Christmas Hamper and a Get Well Soon Swine Flu Hamper! But we liked the the Gluten Free Christmas Hamper, which contains fine produce suitable for a gluten-free diet, so allergy-sufferers get to enjoy the festive period too (from £19.95, Real Food Direct).

Fortnum & Mason
It's not really possible to write about hampers without including one from the iconic Fortnum & Mason store. Even better, F&M now let you create bespoke hampers online so you can omit the inevitable jar-of-something you don't like and fill your hamper with treasures you know will be appreciated (from £15 for delivery plus the cost of individual items  Fortnum & Mason).

Selfridges
Selfridges hampers are as stylish as you'd expect from one of the UK's favourite stores. The hampers are filled with Selfridges own high-quality goodies and can bought ready-filled, like the Italian-themed Gordon's Choice (£130), or buy an Anya Hindmarch wicker basket to fill with treats of your own choice (from £60; Selfridges).
