Are you getting your 5 A Day?
New survey reveals majority still eating too few fruit and veg.

Research commissioned by Appletiser has shown that over half the nation (55%) are only consuming three portions or less of fruit and vegetables a day, even though 92% admitted that they know the government recommend five.
Members of the younger generation were the worst culprits, with 70% of 18-24 year olds claiming they only eat three or less portions on an average day, while 4% admitted to not eating any fruit or veg at all.
Across all age groups the main reasons cited for not fulfilling this quota is not having enough time (28%); 22% said they 'can't be bothered'.
People's professions also play a part:
• A third (33%) of those working in Sales or the Civil Service said they're not interested in eating the recommended portions
• 17% of IT workers said they're not sure how to get hold of fresh produce
• 11% of skilled labourers don’t understand the concept of 5 A Day
• A quarter (25%) of full-time students that don’t eat 5 A Day don’t think that the necessary sources are accessible enough.
Nutritionist Anita Bean said: “It’s clear from the reasons given in the survey that
most people think eating 5 A Day is too much time and effort. This is
bad news because it means they’re missing out on vital vitamins,
minerals and other protective substances that can help to protect us
from heart disease, strokes, and some cancers."
