Faux gras

For foodies with a conscience...
Faux gras
Foie gras – created by force-feeding ducks and geese – has fallen out of favour in recent years on cruelty grounds. The controversial pâté is banned in 15 countries and some UK councils are following suit.

It's no surprise that Waitrose Faux Gras, from £4.99 (175g) – a cheekily named alternative, made from the livers of free-range birds – is flying off the shelves. As there's no force-feeding involved, it's perfect for foodies with a conscience.
