Walnuts


  The Walnut Tree Company sell walnut trees as two-year-old grafted bare-root stock. This means you should expect to wait at least three, possibly four, years before they start fruiting and choose from such established French varieties as Ronde de Montignac, Fernette and Franquette.

Pears


  The Apple & Pear People in Norwich source pears, apples and apple and pear juices from nearby farms around Norfolk. In the pear department, you’ll find Conference, Concorde, Doyenne du Comice, William, and possibly even a locally-grown Asian variety from mid-September through to around April. Make a point of stopping by for their Apple & Pear Festival, 13-25 October, where they’ll be offering tastings of over 50 fruit varieties.

Rabbit


  Blackface are known for their Scottish Blackface lamb and mutton, but in season they also sell game from approved licensed wild stocks, including rabbit, hare, pheasant, woodpigeon, snipe, mallard and even wild goat. Buy online and your order will be delivered vacuum-packed and ready to cook.

Mussels



  Nicky Tattershall and family have been fishing for and selling the freshest shellfish in Dorset for over 20 years. His father Peter harvests in Lyme Bay and brings the haul back to their fish shop, The Trawlerman, in West Bay. Enjoy the luscious platters of lobster and mussels in their BYO cafe over the road or take them home.

Oysters


  The cold waters of Loch Ryan in south west Scotland are perfect conditions for Rossmore’s slow- growing native oysters. A fully-grown oyster can be up to10 years old with its firm texture and a delicious, slightly sweet taste. They also source creamy, plump rock (Pacific) oysters from Jersey and Poole. Rossmore will deliver overnight, and can provide an oyster bar for a special party.
