According to the British Dental Health Foundation chief Dr Nigel Carter: “Fruit smoothies contain high levels of sugar and acid, and so can do a lot of damage to teeth.” Dentists are worried that the increasing popularity of these drinks could lead to an ‘erosion epidemic’, and they advise drinking them only at mealtimes.
