Manhattan cocktail recipe

This classic winter cocktail is based on the comforting sweet ’n’ spicy flavours of American rye whiskey.

Ingredients

1. 40ml American rye whiskey
2. 20ml sweet vermouth
3. 2 large dashes of Angostura bitters
4. Ice
5. A maraschino cherry, to decorate

Method

1. 1. Stir 40ml American rye whiskey and 20ml sweet vermouth together over ice in a jug. Add 2 large dashes of Angostura bitters.
2. 2. Strain into a martini glass. A fun, kitsch decoration here is a maraschino cherry.

Chef's tip

This cocktail goes well with mini Yorkshire puds with smoked venison.
