This Lebanese dish of herbs and nuts will make excellent nibbles.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 250g mixed nuts (
- 1 tablespoon olive or sesame oil. Toss together, then roast for 10
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C/gas 6. For the zahtar, mix together 1 tablespoon dried thyme, 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest and 2 teaspoons sea salt. Spread 250g mixed nuts (we used almonds, cashews, hazelnuts and pecans) in a layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle over the zahtar, then drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive or sesame oil. Toss together, then roast for 10 minutes, or until golden. Put the nuts into a bowl and serve warm as a nibble alongside Guinness with port (see recipe).
