How to grow chives

Chives have a mild onion flavour, and are great for use in salads, sandwiches and dips. Their attractive flowers are also edible and make a pretty garnish.

Chives can be easily raised from seed. They grow in tufted clumps which makes them ideal for edging beds and paths.

Regularly harvest the tops to stimulate new young growth, which has the best flavour.
