The way to someone’s heart is through their stomach – and the Italians sure know how to pull off a romantic dinner in style. Lina Stores, Soho’s famous Italian delicatessen is offering a Valentine’s At Home box this year. The kit, adorned in their famous green and white striped packaging, contains fresh focaccia, Bella di Cerignola olives, cured Coppa and Tuscan Pecordino Cacio di Pienza Nero cheese, one pasta kit for two of your choice, a bottle of Italian Prosecco, and a seriously indulgent baci brownie to finish. It’s a lot of food, so just a warning: you won’t be able to move afterwards, but the best part is, you’ll already be home! Available from Big Night (£62).

HG Walter’s Valentine’s Day Box

If you’re looking for something extravagant to impress a date, this three-course meal from high-end London butcher HG Walter is not going to disappoint. The starter of Cornish white crab, pickled kohlrabi, fennel puree, corn shoots and sourdough is looks far more impressive than the time it takes to get on the plate, and is the perfect light and refreshing way to kick off the meal. The main course of contre-fillet sirloin is generous indeed, and comes with macaroni pasta with cheese sauce, short rib ragu and a pangrattato crumb, as well as purple sprouting and red wine jus. You’ll not be leaving the dinner table hungry here. The pudding is a seasonal highlight, for it’s not just a chocolate pud: it’s a soft and moreish fondant served with blood orange segments, blood orange and prosecco jus. Ambassador General Store Gymkhana Chicken Butter Feast

To really raise pulses this Valentine’s Day, snap up one of the butter chicken kits from Ambassador General Store (the meal-kit incarnation of Gymkhana, Trishna and Brigadiers restaurants). This cook-at-home-kit features papads with mango chutney, and then a main course feast of amazingly tender chicken that’s been charred, marinated and then cooked in a buttery, tomato and cashew-rich sauce.
