Coast to Coast by Rick Stein

Coast to Coast is an excellent collection far broader in range than many cook books published this year and the timing couldn’t be better…

With previous cookbooks under his belt including ‘Rick Stein’s Seafood, Seafood Lovers’ Guide and Taste of The Sea’ and his mini-empire in Padstow on the Cornish coast (colloquially-known as Padstein) specialising in all things of the sea, you’d be forgiven for thinking Coast to Coast was exclusively a seafood collection, and that he’d simply flown over any irritating landmasses to get to his real prize – the coast.

Slimmed down wallets mean that the smart money is on all-rounder titles, and the variety you’ll find within these pages is impressive, from curries to gastropub dishes and from Chinese to Mexican. Themed as a collection of recipes from Rick’s many and varied travels, recipes are chaptered by international regions including the Far East, Australia & New Zealand, Britain & Ireland. Dishes span the globe and range from the hearty chorizo and butter bean stew with garlic and thyme to the refreshing crab linguine with parsley and chilli. Desserts are well catered-for and there is useful techniques information also.

A good source of inspiration for weekday meals and more challenging entertaining dishes for the weekend, Coast to Coast is a fantastic all-rounder and a surprising but welcome addition from Rick – recommended.
