Friday cocktail: Suarez bite

Just pop a sliver of chilli in your caipirinha and you have a ‘Suarez bite’ cocktail

As the World Cup moves into the knockout stage and Suarez sits on the sidelines filing his teeth, we can look forward to some great games ahead (and even England fans can enjoy them, free of anxiety…).
Enhance your viewing experience with a pimped version of Brazil’s national cocktail, the caipirinha – the added sliver of chilli gives it a bit of bite.

Be sure to bake a batch of Brazil’s wondrous cheesy snacks, pão de queijo, to go with.

Futbol!
Suarez bite (serves 1)
½ juicy lime, sliced into 4 wedges
2 tsp brown sugar
ice cubes
50ml cachaça (Brazilian sugarcane spirit – I like Abelha, in larger M&S stores)
A sliver of chilli

Muddle the lime wedges and sugar in a tumblr, then wrap the ice cubes in a clean tea towel and bash with a rolling pin to crush. Fill the tumbler with crushed ice, then top up with the cachaça and finish with a sliver of chilli. Pra caramba!
