Meera Sodha on kimchi pancakes, the wonders of peanut butter and her new book: listen now

In this week’s podcast, I catch up with vegan and vegetarian food writer Meera Sodha who gives me a masterclass on Asian store cupboard ingredients in order to transform my plant-based repertoire.

We also chat about her quest around the UK in search of the diverse range of recipes that inspired her new book, East.

Tune in for a new episode of the delicious. podcast every Thursday.

Meera’s new book East is packed full of tasty recipes originating from Bangalore to Beijing, however you might be surprised to discover that all of the book’s recipes were actually gathered from a diverse range of restaurants dotted throughout the UK.

Although we know and love Meera for her Indian cooking, Korean cuisine plays an additional role within her new book. Listen along as Meera cooks a popular kimchi pancake dish, which was inspired by an epiphany Meera had whilst dining at a Korean restaurant in York.

Unlike many authors who choose to travel the world in search of inspiration, Meera used London as her main stomping ground to discover a whole host of flavours and recipes on her doorstep. “I’d been living in London for over ten years and yet I felt as if I had new eyes all of sudden,” says Meera, who describes the joy of discovering so many diverse food communities across the capital.
