delicious. Produce Award winner: Conti’s Ice Cream

Meet the winner of our ‘from the dairy’ artisan category…

Conti’s Ice Cream, from Wales, for their Traditional ice cream.

The judges said: “Not too sweet, yet enticing and luxurious. You can really taste the milk and the cream, and the texture is smooth and creamy.”

The Conti family, originally from Bardi in northern Italy, have been producing ice cream in Lampeter since 1946.

Conti’s ice cream is made simply, using local organic milk and cream and sweetened with organic raw cane sugar. There are 16 flavours in the range (as well as a choice of sorbets), from chocolate and coffee to caramel & honeycomb and peanut butter, but it was the straight-up, plain ‘Traditional’ that made the judges sit up and take notice at the final. It’s flavoured with nothing at all, not even vanilla.
