It Wouldn’t Be Christmas Without… Matt Tebbutt’s locally farmed beef: listen now

This week, I caught up with Matt Tebbutt about how food habits have changed since he started as the host of Saturday Kitchen and Food Unwrapped – and, in this Christmas special, why he’s buying the beef for his family’s festive feast from his local taxi driver this year…

In this week’s episode, I have a chat with one of the UK’s most recognised faces in the world of food TV, Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbut. We discuss the industry gamechangers of the late 90s, from Marco Pierre-White and Jamie to the late Gary Rhodes, who transformed the face of food and inspired Matt in a number of ways.

Reflecting on his glittering 25-year food career, Matt describes his job presenting Saturday Kitchen as ‘the best gig in the world’. We discuss his ongoing adoration of the show, along with the various joys which come with presenting Food Unwrapped, the Channel 4 programme which Matt has been a part of since 2013.

We also debate the UK’s growing appetite for high welfare meat which, rather inevitably, leads to a conversation on the rise of veganism. Listen to hear Matt’s somewhat sceptical view on the current craze for meat-free fare.

Lastly, we talk all things Christmas in the Tebbutt household. What’s on the table this year? Which of the main food groups is Matt is most looking forward to getting his hands on? Warning: it may surprise you.
