What is ghee?

Ghee is a form of clarified butter which is made by removing the milk solids from melted butter. However, it is simmered for longer than clarified butter giving it a richer, nuttier flavour and a higher smoke point.

It’s also considered by some to be better for you than butter as it contains many vitamins and is free from lactose.

How to cook with ghee

Ghee can be used like any other cooking fat. It generally doesn’t splatter or burn too much, making it ideal for those high heat cooking moments without setting your smoke alarm off.

How to store ghee

You can store ghee in its original container in a cool, dark place, away from too much steam and heat. If you prefer, you can pop it in the fridge too.
