Sashimi

Sashimi is a Japanese dish of very fresh, raw fish, sliced thinly and often served with daikon, soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi.

They prefer to have it early in a meal, before the stronger flavours of other dishes overwhelm the palate. Don’t confuse sashimi with sushi, which tends to feature other ingredients such as rice and vegetables.
