- Hands-on time 10 min, plus chilling
Fresh from a movie set and in to your home, just in time to party. This gin and champagne cocktail recipe – the French 75 – is bound to get the party started.
- 220ml gin
- 80ml sugar syrup
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Lemon zest to serve
- Mix the gin with the sugar syrup and the lemon juice. Cover and chill for up to 24 hours until needed. When ready to serve, pour 3cm into champagne flutes (or just over 1cm into coupes), top with champagne and serve with a twist of lemon peel (see tip).
To make perfect citrus twists for cocktails, peel a slender strip with a sharp veg peeler from around the middle of the fruit, then run your finger firmly along the underside of the strip, so it curls. If you peel the strip over the cocktail glasses, the oils from the skin will spray onto the drink, adding flavour.
