What they do:
Luke Hasell took over his family farm in the Chew Valley in 2004 after his parents passed away. He moved the farm into organic production in 2007.
The farm’s 70 south devon cows graze only on grasses, clover and foraged crops. Luke believes so strongly in the benefits this method of feeding animals, that he is in the process of getting other farmers in the area to sign up to a pasture-fed livestock association.
The farm use a traditional on-the-bone maturing process, dry-ageing the beef for 30 days to give it a full, meaty flavour.
As well as organising school tours of the grounds, Story Organic runs and manages two restaurants in Bristol, and stages an organic food and music festival on the farm called Valley Fest.
Luke is devoted to creating wildlife havens and other environmental benefits. Around 100 acres of the 500-acre farm is dedicated to conservation, in partnership with the National Trust in Bristol.

What the judges said:
The judges were impressed with Story Organic’s commitment to their livestock, and appreciated their love and enthusiasm for producing high-quality beef.
