Recipes using nutmeg

How to use up leftover nutmeg

  • Spiced porridge. Put oats, water or milk and a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg in a pan over a medium-low heat. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring regularly, until creamy. Serve with honey, apple, walnuts and an extra grating of nutmeg.
  • Aromatic pie crust. Grate 1⁄4 whole nutmeg into the dry ingredients for the pastry when making an apple pie. The flavour will be a great match for the fruit filling.
