The queen of TV cookery is back

For the first time, Delia tells her story, in her own words

The woman whom the TV historian Dominic Sandbrook called “the true queen of the Eighties” published her first recipe way back in 1969. In this exclusive feature inside our latest issue, she tells, in her own words, the story of how a woman with no O-levels, who couldn’t spell, became a legend of British cookery.

Also in the October issue of delicious., the great and the good of the food world line up in praise of Delia, with Jamie Oliver revealing he kisses her picture every day, and celebrity chef Prue Leith admitting that even her own brother prefers cooking Delia’s recipes.

delicious. editor Karen Barnes says: “I’m thrilled we’re celebrating Delia’s milestone with her – particularly as I’ve always seen her as my own secret adviser in the kitchen (haven’t we all?)”

Why did Delia decide to choose delicious. to celebrate this special event with us? Quite simply, she believes it’s Britain’s best food magazine. We’ll take that!

“I love it,” she says. “It somehow reaches the reader and makes them feel included.”
