Fruity milkshakes

Ingredients

  1. 500g fresh strawberries or raspberries, or a mixture of both
  2. 3 ripe bananas
  3. 750ml-1 litre milk
  4. 300ml bio-live yogurt

Method

  1. 1. Cut the stalks off the strawberries – this is called hulling. Cut any big strawberries in half. Peel the bananas, break into pieces and put into a food processor, blender or jug.
  2. 2. Add the milk, strawberries and yogurt. Whizz until smooth – if using a jug, use a stick blender and pass it around so everyone can have a go at turning the milk pink. Serve cold.

Chef's tip

The girls enjoyed washing and hulling the strawberries and it gave me a chance to talk to them about why certain fruits are only available in the summer. They were also fascinated to learn about the bacteria found in live yogurt. However nothing was as exciting as watching the milk turn pink!
