Win a peaceful countryside getaway in Suffolk

Our winner and guest will enjoy two nights’ stay at Willow Barn, a renovated cart lodge in the small village of Troston, just seven miles from Suffolk’s food capital Bury St Edmunds. It sits opposite Willow House, a 19^th century home originally built as a gamekeeper’s cottage for the Troston Hall Estate, in a peaceful and rural setting.

 

Downstairs, you’ll find a breakfast room with induction hob, microwave and small fridge, ideal for preparing a relaxed breakfast. Why not put a vinyl on the record player while you cook – or unwind with a glass of wine? A welcome pack including tea, coffee, milk and a few other treats will be waiting for you.

On the first floor is a cosy snug leading to an open-plan living space with views across the countryside. There’s plenty of wildlife to spot, including majestic red kites. Outdoors is a private seating area overlooking the fields and on a clear night you can experience fantastic starry skies. Scenic walks and cycling routes begin straight from the barn door. On your return, make time to soak in Willow Barn’s luxurious freestanding bath.

 

Also included in the prize is dinner on one night at village pub The Bull Freehouse, where menus showcase the best of East Anglian produce. Expect posh puds and snacks, creative mains and finessed classics such as The Bull Burger with bacon jam and oak-smoked cheddar. The pub pours pints from on-site microbrewery Rascality, too – try the Bull Liquor, a golden ale. Then it’s just a 10-minute stroll back to Willow Barn after dinner… It’s the perfect recipe for a relaxing countryside stay.
