Warm flaky croissants – filled with oozing chocolate, marzipan and amaretti biscuits – are perfect for a special breakfast with a loved one.

Day-old croissants work best in this recipe, as they’re easier to cut and crisp up well in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 4 croissants
  • 100g good quality marzipan, grated
  • 5g unsalted butter
  • 30g amaretti biscuits, plus extra to serve
  • 50g dark chocolate, chopped
  • Melted chocolate to serve

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas 4. Slice open the croissants without cutting through to the other side.
  2. Put the marzipan, butter and amaretti biscuits in a food processor and whizz to just combine.
  3. Divide the mixture among the croissant cavities, then top with the chopped dark chocolate.
  4. Put in a baking tray and bake for 8 minutes or until the chocolate melts and the marzipan softens.
  5. Drizzle with melted chocolate and crumble over another amaretti biscuit, if you like.
