Recipes using mustard powder

How to use up mustard powder

  • Roast beef seasoning
In a bowl, mix 1 tbsp mustard powder, 1 tbs ground black pepper, a good pinch of salt and 4 tbsp olive oil. Rub a large topside of beef all over with the mixture, leave to come to room temperature, then roast as usual.
  • Cheese biscuits
Add 1 tsp mustard powder to the flour when making cheesy sable biscuits for a little added kick. The colour will make them look cheesier, too. Find a recipe at deliciousmagazine.co.uk
  • Burger with oomph
Put 600g British beef mince in a mixing bowl and add 1 medium free-range egg yolk, 1/2 tbsp mustard powder, 2 tsp dried oregano and a small handful of chopped fresh parsley with plenty of salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands, then cover and chill for 1 hour. Shape into 4 burgers, then fry.
