Cranberry manhattan ‘Cranhattan’ cocktail

The seriously sophisticated Mad Men-esque manhattan gets a festive twist by way of cranberry jelly, which dissolves into the mixture adding tangy sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 600ml rye whiskey
  • 150ml sweet vermouth
  • 150g smooth cranberry jelly or sauce
  • ¼ tsp fine salt
  • 20 dashes angostura bitters
  • Cocktail cherries or fresh cranberries to serve

Method

  1. Put the whiskey, vermouth, cranberry jelly, salt and bitters in a container with 200ml water. Seal and shake or stir vigorously until the jelly dissolves into the liquid. Funnel into a bottle, then cover and keep in the freezer.
  2. To serve, shake or stir, then pour roughly 100ml into a coupe glass. Garnish with a cocktail cherry or cranberry.
