Pomada (Spanish gin cocktail)
The Pomada is Menorca’s favourite cocktail for fiestas. This boozy lemon slushy is traditionally made with the island’s own gin (Xoriguer gin) and is a ubiquitous sight during the island’s summer festivals.
- Did you know? The pomada is sometimes referred to as ginet, depending where you are on the island, and is offered either slushy like this or unblended (but still very, very chilled).
- Make it at home: Many Menorcan bars will serve a pomada with equal parts gin and lemonade, which is still delicious but a bit too strong for us! This version is just as tasty but won’t have you on the floor after a few.
- Scales up easily: You can scale this cocktail recipe up to whatever size your blender can take – just be sure to serve it right away as it melts pretty quickly.
