Retailers are reporting that sales of dried beans and pulses have rocketed in the past year, thanks to health conscious cooks who have recognised the benefits of large doses of dietary fibre.

Waitrose reports that aduki bean sales have quadrupled in 2014, while sales of black turtle beans and borlotti beans have also increased hugely.
